In 1921, The Laughing Cow was born in Lons, France. Created by Léon Bel, a visionary who revolutionized the factory processes and the cheese market of the time.
In 1924, The Laughing Cow debuted her new look: the individually wrapped wedges we know (and love) today, complete with a refreshed logo featuring her iconic earrings.
Over time, The Laughing Cow stretched across the world, starting in the United Kingdom in 1929, followed by Belgium in 1933. In the 1970s, The Laughing Cow found its way to Eastern Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the United States and in the 1990s, it began extending into Asia.
The Laughing cow cheese wedge has been proudly and locally produced in South Africa since 2019. Since then, it has quickly grown to become the number 1 selling cheese wedge brand in Moo’ Zanzi.
The Laughing Cow Plain Wedge takes home the top prize in the Cheese Wedge category as well as a Qualite’ Award at the 2024 SA Dairy Championships!
Today, around 10 million servings are sold daily in 136 countries.
